Team Spirit Are the Winners of DreamHack Open January 2021 Europe

The Russian squad Team Spirit has emerged victorious in the European division of DreamHack Open January 2021. In the event’s grand finals they defeated FPX Esports with the 3-0 score, claiming $35,000 in prize money.

Team Spirit advanced to playoffs from the second place in Group B, where they defeated forZe (2-1) and Sprout (2-1), but lost to Gambit (1-2). In the semifinals they managed to outplay BIG (2-1), while in the grand finals they emerged victorious at Dust II (16:7), Nuke (16:6) and Mirage (16:8).

Earlier in January Team Spirit loaned Abdulkhalik "degster" Gasanov and Robert "Patsi" Isyanov from ESPADA, who replaced two longstanding members Artem "iDISBALANCE" Egorov and Boris "magixx" Vorobiev. Later this month they will also compete in the Play-In stage of IEM XV – World Championship – the event will be played online on February 16th – 28th, featuring 24 teams and a $1,000,000 prize pool.

DreamHack Open January 2021 also featured a North American division, where four teams competed for a $30,000 prize pool. The first place was secured by paiN Gaming, who defeated Rebirth Esports (3-0) in the event’s grand finals.

Earlier DreamHack revealed the entire schedule for DreamHack Open events in 2021 – the list includes five online tournaments and two LAN-events, all of them featuring $100,000 up for grabs.
