FURIA Esports Have Withdrawn from IEM XV Beijing-Haidian 2020
The Brazilian team FURIA Esports has decided to withdraw from IEM XV – Beijing-Haidian Online: NA. They will be replaced by New England Whalers.
FURIA Esports, currently the most successful team in North America, now are at a bootcamp in Europe – from there they participate in the regular season of BLAST Premier Fall 2020. Besides that, earlier the team emerged victorious at IEM XV New York, securing their place at the IEM Global Challenge, which will be held this December in Cologne, Germany. To minimize travel during COVID-19 related restrictions, the team decided against going back home to partake in IEM XV – Beijing-Haidian.
FURIA will be replaced by Ben "ben1337" Smith team New England Whalers, which recently showed decent results at IEM XV New York – there they placed 2nd in Group A with the 4-1 score, however later lost all playoffs series and placed 6th at the event.
Intel Extreme Masters XV – Beijing-Haidian Online: North America is an online event, which will feature eight teams competing for a $50,000 prize pool. Besides New England Whalers, the organizers invited Chaos EC, Evil Geniuses, Team Liquid, Team One and Triumph. The final two participants will be determined through the qualifier scheduled for October 30th – November 1st. The main event will be played on November 6th – 22nd.
