FaZe Upset NAVI to Win PGL Major Antwerp

The grand finale of PGL Major Antwerp featured a match between the two current best teams of the world – Natus Vincere, who are the winners of the previous major PGL Stockholm 2021 and BLAST Premier: World Finale 2021, and FaZe Clan, who this year managed to emerge victorious at IEM XVI – Katowice and ESL Pro League 15.

The series started with FaZe’s pick, Inferno, where Finn "karrigan" Andersen and the crew managed to win the first eight rounds, however later NAVI bounced back and managed to lead the team into overtime, which eventually ended in FaZe’s favour with a 19-16 score. At NAVI’s pick, Nuke, FaZe managed to finish the CT side with a 10-5 score and ended the map with a 16-10 score.

For FaZe, this is their first victory at a major and their biggest grab in terms of prize money – the first place at PGL Major Antwerp gives out $500,000. The event’s MVP by hltv is the team’s 27-years-old rifler Håvard "rain" Nygaard, who finished the event with a 1.24 rating. FaZe is also the first international team to win a CS:GO major – the team’s players represent five different countries.

PGL Major Antwerp 2022 was held in Antwerp, Belgium from May 9th to 22nd, featuring a $1,000,000 prize pool. The tournament’s final Champions Stage was held at Antwerps Sportpaleis with live audience.
